Diwali Celebration

As the entire Nation is getting ready to celebrate the festival of lights known as “Diwali”. On November 13, 2020 at Mazzarello Youth Centre, basement, Wadala, we the Management, Staff and Students of Sahayini Social Development Society – VTC organized the Diwali programme and celebrated it with much enthusiasm.  There were more than 45  people comprising of Community Sisters, Youth and Staff were present for the celebration. The theme for the event was “Let Your Light Shine”. Sr Kalyani Subramanium (Teacher – Auxilium Convent High School, Wadala and Parish Youth Incharge) was the chief guest for the programme. Ms Reena Naidu (Mobilizer) welcomed everyone. A prayer moment was organized invoking God’s presence by reading a passage from Bhagavadgita. After which Sr Kalyani, Sr Manisha, Mr James and a youth lit the lamp, each wick  representing warmth, happiness, joy, bonding. Later, sharing the diyas with values such as peace, joy, tolerance, love, warmth, etc was the highlight of the event. Sr Rosaline Pereira (Project Manager) then felicitated the chief guest with a bunch of roses. The chief guest felicitated Sr Manisha Parmar (Director, Sahayini Social Development Society). Each staff then felicitated the Sisters present at the event. Our ex-student of Graphic Design, Mr Rahul Robert entertained us with a dance performance. Sr Manisha Parmar later felicitated Sr Rosaline Pereira with shawls as a token of love and respect. She appreciated Sr Rosaline for being generous, reaching out, taking up difficult tasks and achieving it. Mrs Rosemary Daniel (Centre Manager) proposed the vote of thanks and snacks were distributed towards the end.Post lunch, Sr Roseline Pereira evaluated about the entire programme and later she conducted training for the Staff on Event Management. She explained us about the following important points:

1.       Efficiency

2.       Visualization

3.       Creativity

4.       Originality

5.       Organization

6.       Internal Structure

She briefed us about the 4 C’s namely: Conceptualization, Costing, Canvassing, Carrying Out. The event characteristics are uniqueness, intangibility, rituals, personal interaction and time scale. The qualities of an event manager are Creative Skills, Negotiation Skills, Coordinating Skills, Planning Skills, and Implementing Skills. Later, she grouped the staff and gave each group a task of organizing an event. The event was a successful one.
