Auxilium Nisarg Mitra, an environmental initiative of the NGO Auxilium Skills Academy, organized National Conference on Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) in Old Goa from the 20th – 22nd March 2024. With 65 attendees from diverse backgrounds, including scholars, NGO officials, and government representatives, the conference aimed to address critical WASH issues.
Day 1 featured registration and a networking session, followed by introductory remarks by Mr. Adhith MK (Environment Coordinator at ASA) and Ms. Tenu Daniel (IETS Trainer at ASA). Day 2 included sessions on community engagement, groundwater pollution, gender equity, sanitation models, and innovative technologies. Day 3 focused on advocacy, featuring discussions led by Mr. Prosper D’Souza (Resource person) and a panel with esteemed guests.
Key outcomes included an action plan focusing on policy advocacy, community engagement, research, partnerships, monitoring, and youth involvement. The conference concluded with the screening of a documentary and discussions on further action plans, laying the groundwork for continued collaboration in advancing WASH goals.
Overall, the conference was a success, facilitating meaningful dialogue, knowledge sharing, and collaboration among stakeholders to work towards universal access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene.
