SESSION ON REPORT WRITING SKILLS

Writing skills are an important part of communication. Good writing skills allow you to communicate
your message with clarity and ease to a far larger audience than through face to face or telephonic
conversations. Poor writing skills create a poor first impression and many readers will have an
immediate negative reaction if they spot a spelling or grammatical mistake.

In order to improve our writing skills, Mr Thomas Lobo (Independent Training Professional and
Motivational Speaker Founder & CEO, Roots2Wings Training Solution) conducted a session on Report
writing for the Staff of Auxilium Skills Academy, Wadala on April 10, 2021. He taught us the importance
of writing and how expressive it can be with few tips. He briefly explained us Joseph Pulitzer’s Advice
(briefly, clearly, picturesquely and accurately). The difference between oral and written communication,
the 6 C’s of effective writing (clear, concise, correct, coherent, complete, courteous) with examples, the
ABC’s of effective writing (accuracy, brevity, clarity), verbal edge test, finally he gave us a structure of
report writing. Towards the end he evaluated the report written by the Staff on Personality Enrichment
Programme wherein we got to know where we went wrong.

It was session which we really wanted to brush up our writing skills.
